Products Description
API 5L X56 steel pipe has a minimum yield strength of 56,600 psi or 390 Mpa. Currently, X56 pipe is controlled microalloyed carbon-manganese steel. The microalloying elements are primarily Nb, V, and Ti, with a total microalloy content of no more than 0.15%. As a result, the pipe organization consists of acicular ferrite and bainite, and generally has good welding properties.

API 5L X56 Pipe Pressure Rating
API 5L grade X56 (L390 tubing) has a minimum yield strength of 46,400 Psi 320 Mpa, which is what we mean when we call this grade in API 5L X56 or L390. Tensile strength is 71100 Psi and 490 Mpa. X56 outperforms X42, X46, X52, and B grades. It is a commonly used material grade in the oil and gas industry.
X56 seamless or welded tubing (ERW, LSAW) with the same pressure rating, tensile strength and yield strength.
If the working conditions require higher pressure, the wall thickness of the pipe must be increased or a higher grade of API 5L must be used.
