API 5L X42 Welded Pipe Description

API 5L X42 pipe, also known as L290 pipe (according to ISO 3183), is named after the minimum yield strength of 42,100 Psi or 290 Mpa. It is a higher grade than B. API 5L has various grades up to X100, so x42 pipe is a low to medium grade and is required in large quantities in most oil and gas transmission pipelines.
