What is 3PE Pipe?

 

 

3PE anticorrosion steel pipe is a very common anticorrosion pipeline, its anticorrosion performance is very superior.3PE anticorrosion steel pipe parent material includes seamless steel pipe, spiral steel pipe and straight seam steel pipe, and the other three layers of anticorrosion materials are epoxy powder, adhesive and polyethylene.

 

Three-layer structure of polyethylene (3PE) anti-corrosion coating with its good corrosion resistance, water permeability and mechanical properties, etc., in the petroleum pipeline industry has been widely used. 

 

3PE pipe has excellent anti-corrosion performance and its own anti-corrosion layer has an inseparable relationship. Generally the same material of the pipe buried in the ground after a few years may rot, while the anti-corrosion steel pipe can ensure that decades do not rot, the key is the anti-corrosion layer.

 

Polythene anticorrosion layer is divided into two-layer structure and three-layer structure two kinds. The bottom layer of two-layer structure is adhesive layer, and the outer layer is polyethylene layer; the bottom layer of three-layer structure is usually epoxy powder coating, the middle layer is adhesive layer, and the outer layer is polyethylene layer. 1. Appearance Inspection Of Steel Tubes

(1) Before processing, the appearance of steel pipe should be visually observed by skilled workers, root by root, the steel pipe with or without serious mechanical damage, heavy skin, cracks, depressions and other defects, inspection of unqualified steel pipe can not be used, and make a failure to mark the return. Acceptance can only be used for construction.
(2) spiral steel pipe if the mouth of the flat mouth, should be timely rounding repair, can not be repaired should be scrapped.

2. Steel Pipe Descaling

(1) Firstly, the steel pipe to be anticorrosive is transported to the upper pipe platform of the operation line by the pipe grabber, and the flame heater device is used to preheat the outer surface of the steel pipe to drive away the moisture, oil and impurities on the surface of the steel pipe, and the heating temperature is controlled to be 40℃~60℃ to improve the quality of descaling of the surface of the steel pipe.
(2) steel pipes are descaled by steel pipe shot blasting machine, in the steel pipe into the shot blasting room, with a rubber pad or a thick sponge made of pipe plug plug at both ends of the steel pipe mouth (such as the steel pipe comes with a pipe plug to use its own pipe plug blocking), to avoid the steel pipe in the process of descaling, shot blasting chamber of the steel shot flying into the mouth of the pipe to reduce the loss of steel pills, and at the same time to ensure that the pipe in the removal of the amount of steel pills, the descaled steel pipe after shot blasting The surface of the steel pipe should reach Sa2.5 level as stipulated in GB/T8923-1988 of ‘Rust Level and Descaling Level of Steel Surface before Painting’, and the depth of the anchor grain on the surface should be carried out according to the instructions provided by the epoxy powder manufacturer.
(3) After the surface pretreatment, all the rust, oil, oxide skin, etc. should be removed.
(4) Examine the outer surface of the steel pipe root by root, and polish the surface defects that may lead to coating leakage points using suitable methods, and the wall thickness after polishing should not be less than the specified value. The steel pipe with defects shall be rejected or repaired.
(5) The steel pipe with unqualified descaling quality shall be taken off the line in time to remove the throws in the pipe, and then return to the production line for descaling again.

3. Dust Treatment On The Surface Of Steel Pipe

(1) After the steel pipe is descaled by shot blasting, before the next process of high-pressure electrostatic spraying of epoxy powder, the dust treatment device is used to carry out the secondary treatment on the external surface of the steel pipe to remove the residual rust powder and dust on the external surface of the steel pipe, and the epoxy powder coating should be carried out within 4 hours, and if more than 4 hours or the surface of the steel pipe appears to be rusty, the surface pre-treatment must be carried out again. When the surface of steel pipe is treated with fine dust, the induced draft fan on the dust removal device should be started first, and then the dust removal motor should be started; if the production needs to be interrupted, the stop button of the dust removal motor should be pressed first, and then the induced draft fan work should be stopped.
(2) Clean the dust in the cyclone hoover regularly to avoid excessive accumulation and affect the dust removal effect.
(3) The working condition of the induced draft fan should be checked frequently after starting the fine dust device.
(4) The dust removal electrode should be maintained on schedule to ensure normal operation.
(5) When carrying out anti-corrosion production, the surface of the steel pipe should be checked at least once an hour for microdust treatment.

4. Pipe Preheating

(1) The steel pipe after microdust treatment should be preheated before epoxy powder coating, using KGPS-750uw constant power medium-frequency machine to heat the steel pipe, and the preheating temperature must be in accordance with the temperature required for epoxy powder coating, but the maximum shall not exceed 275℃.
(2) Check the water level of the medium frequency circulating pool, make sure the water volume is at least ~3 cubic metres. Start the medium-frequency circulating water pump, check whether all the circulating water pipes are leaking or not, and start the medium-frequency device machine only when you are sure that all the circulating water pipes are normal.
(3) According to the feeding speed of steel pipes of different diameters and the predetermined heating temperature, use the experimental pipe to adjust and determine the output power value of medium-frequency heating during production on the operating line.
(4) The use of advanced temperature measuring instruments to measure the temperature of the steel pipe preheating, improve the accuracy of the measurement to ensure that the steel pipe for powder coating, the steel pipe preheating temperature in the range recommended by the powder coating manufacturer.
(5) When carrying out anti-corrosion production, measure and record at least once every hour to determine the preheating temperature of steel pipe when powder coating.

5. Anti-corrosion Coating
  • Epoxy Powder Roll Coating Or Spraying

  • Adhesive-coated And Polyethylene Tape Wrapping

(1) The coating of the adhesive shall be carried out during the gelling process of the epoxy powder.
(2) When the lateral winding process is used, it shall be ensured that the polyethylene in the lap section and the polyethylene on both sides of the weld seam are completely rolled and compacted, and the surface of the polyethylene layer shall be prevented from being crushed.

  • Circulating Water Cooling

 After the end of the steel pipe anti-corrosion layer production, should be promptly cooled and fixed moulding, can be used to circulate water pouring coating room on the corrosion of the finished steel pipe for the anti-corrosion layer surface layer of the cooling, cooling to take a section by section sub-methods.

(1) Before production, start the circulating water pump motor in the coating room.
(2) Adjust the switch of each valve of cooling water pipe to control the size of cooling water to avoid the impact on the anticorrosion coating caused by the excessive speed of water flow, which will affect the appearance and forming quality of the coating.
(3) Before the steel pipe enters the first set of drive wheels in the pouring and coating room, it is cooled by the first cooling water. So that the steel pipe surface layer just anticorrosion on the coating in rolling to the first set of rubber wheels, the anticorrosion layer will not be damaged and remain intact.
(4) According to the size of the pipe diameter and the difference in ambient temperature, take 2~4 sections of cooling water for cooling by section by section, the cooling temperature of the steel pipe is not higher than 60 ℃, and to ensure that the fusion bonded epoxy coating is fully cured.
(5) The appearance of the coating shall be flat, even in colour, free of bubbles, cracks and shrinkage holes, mild orange peel pattern is allowed, and the thickness of the coating shall meet the design requirements.
(6) At least the thickness of the anti-corrosion layer of the 1st, 5th and 10th steel pipes shall be checked for each consecutive production batch, and at least one for each 10th pipe shall be sampled thereafter.
(7) If the owner has requirements, it shall be implemented according to the owner's requirements.

  • Cutting And Leaving Head

After the anti-corrosion layer of the steel pipe is cooled by cooling water, the length of the pipe end retaining head shall be 100-120mm as required by the regulations.

  • Grinding Pipe End Retained Head

(1) The end surface of polyethylene layer should form a chamfer of not more than 30 degrees, and the epoxy powder coating of not more than 20mm can be retained outside the end of polyethylene layer. It should be prevented from peeling or warping of the anticorrosion layer at the end of the anticorrosion pipe.
(2) Pipe end retaining head using electric wire brush for pipe end retaining head treatment, operation according to 2~3 times in sections to achieve the standard requirements.
(3) The wire brush used for grinding the chamfer of the anticorrosion layer at the end of the pipe, the working surface should be flat, no bumps and dents.

① Quality inspection is carried out by sampling according to the design regulations.

② Use visual inspection root by root. The surface of the cover layer should be uniform, wrinkled, flat, without bubbles, convex tumours and uneven crimping and other cover layer defects.

③ Check pinholes with a pinhole checker. If pinholes are found, use a sandpaper sander to sand and fill the paint.

④ Insufficient thickness of paint film or pinhole, should be rechecked after returning to repair and curing. The unqualified ones should be repaired again until qualified.

⑤ Adhesion check, use a hard tool to make a cut with an angle of 60 on the coating for random check. Should be cut through the coating directly to the substrate, with tape to paste the scratched portion, tear off the tape afterwards to observe the scratches, the coating should be no flaking, but also in the same conditions on the spray paint samples for inspection.

① During and after surface coating construction, the coated workpiece should be protected to prevent flying dust and other debris.

② After the coating of the treatment check, should be the same colour of the coating. The colour is bright and shiny, no wrinkles, blistering, hanging, leakage and other defects.

③ Determination of coating film thickness. Determination of paint film thickness with contact paint film thickness gauge, paint film thickness gauge generally determine the thickness of 3 points, take the average value.
