L450 welded spiral steel pipe Description
L450 spiral welded pipe is made of L450 low alloy high-strength steel as raw material through spiral forming process and welding technology, which belongs to pipeline steel in API 5L standard (corresponding to X65/X70 grade in international standard). It belongs to pipeline steel in API 5L standard (corresponding to X65/X70 grade in international standard), its minimum yield strength is 450MPa, and it is widely used in the field of high-pressure fluid transmission and structural support.
Execution standard: Comply with API 5L PSL2 (oil and gas industry pipeline standard), GB/T 9711 (China oil and gas steel pipe standard) and SY/T 5037 (low-pressure fluid transmission). SY/T 5037 (low pressure fluid transmission standard).
Model identification: partly labelled as L450M, where 'M' indicates that the material has excellent low-temperature toughness (e.g. remains tough below -20°C). (such as -20 ℃ below still maintain impact resistance).
Manufacturing processes
Spiral forming and welding:
Using high frequency welding (HFW) or submerged arc welding (SAWH) process, the steel strip is cold-formed into a spiral and then welded into shape, with continuous and uniform weld seams and better compression resistance than LSAW pipes.
The production process includes Uncoiling → Levelling → Curling → Welding → Welding → Welding Seam Treatment → Inspection, which can manufacture large-calibre steel pipes with diameters of Φ219-3500mm and wall thicknesses of 6-25.4mm.
Chemical composition: low carbon design (carbon content ≤ 0.22%), sulfur, phosphorus content ≤ 0.03%, adding manganese (Mn), silicon (Si) and trace niobium (Nb), vanadium (V) Alloying elements such as manganese (Mn), silicon (Si) and traces of niobium (Nb), vanadium (V) are added to optimise the grain structure and enhance strength.
Mechanical properties:
Yield strength ≥450MPa, tensile strength 520-760MPa, elongation ≥20%.
Excellent low-temperature impact toughness, suitable for cold regions or deep-sea environments
Comparative advantages
Comparison with lower steel grades: compared with L245 and L360 steel pipes, L450 has higher yield strength (≥450MPa) and can withstand higher pressure or complex loads.
Comparison with LSAW pipes: Spiral forming process can produce large diameter pipes (e.g. Φ3500mm) at low cost with uniform weld seam distribution and better pressure resistance
