Production Process of API 5L X42 Large Diameter Spiral Welded Steel Pipe
The production process of spiral welded steel pipe mainly includes the following steps:
(1) Steel strip pretreatment: The raw material is usually hot-rolled or cold-rolled steel strip, which needs to be leveled and trimmed to ensure that the edges are flat and easy to weld later.
(2) Spiral forming: The steel strip is continuously rolled at a certain spiral angle by a forming machine to form a tubular structure. In this process, the feed speed and forming angle of the steel strip directly affect the diameter and wall thickness of the steel pipe.
(3) Welding: The formed steel pipe is welded by submerged arc welding or high-frequency welding. Submerged arc welding is suitable for thick-walled steel pipes and has a higher welding quality; high-frequency welding is suitable for thin-walled steel pipes and has a higher production efficiency.
(4) Weld inspection: After welding, the weld quality needs to be inspected by ultrasonic, X-ray or eddy current testing to ensure that there are no defects such as porosity or slag inclusions.
(5) Sizing and cutting: The outer diameter of the steel pipe is adjusted by a sizing machine and then cut into the specified length according to requirements.
(6) Anti-corrosion treatment: Depending on the usage environment, steel pipes may be treated with anti-corrosion coatings, such as epoxy coal tar pitch, 3PE anti-corrosion, etc., to extend their service life.
