What are the API 5L GRB Welded Steel Pipe Standards?

In the API 5L steel pipe standard, the quality standards (or requirements) for steel pipes are divided into PSL1 and PSL2. PSL stands for Product Specification Level.

PSL1 provides general quality requirements for line pipe steel; PSL2 adds mandatory requirements for chemical composition, notch toughness, strength properties, and additional NDE (Non-Destructive Examination).

The pipe grade for PSL1 steel pipes (indicating the strength level of the pipe, such as L290, where 290 refers to the minimum yield strength of 290 MPa) is the same as the steel grade (or designation, such as X42, where 42 indicates the minimum yield strength or the rounded-up minimum yield strength in psi). These grades are identified by a combination of letters or letters and numbers indicating the strength level of the steel pipe, and the steel grade is related to the chemical composition of the steel.

PSL2 steel pipes are designated by a combination of letters or letters and numbers indicating the strength level of the steel pipe. The steel grade is related to the chemical composition of the steel and also includes a suffix composed of a single letter (R, N, Q, or M) indicating the delivery condition.
