A691 1CR Alloy Steel Pipe Description
A691 1CR alloy welded pipe is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel welded pipe with a chromium (Cr) content of about 1% (actual range 0.8%-1.25%), a molybdenum (Mo) content of 0.45%-0.65%, and a carbon content of ≤0.2%.
The grade is marked as A691 1Cr CL21 ("CL21" represents the material grade).
Manufacturing process
The electric fusion welding (EFW) process is adopted, and the weld is treated with double-sided penetration to ensure structural integrity.
After welding, normalizing + tempering heat treatment must be carried out to eliminate internal stress and optimize the metallographic structure.

Advantages
- High temperature stability: working temperature ≤550℃, short-term tolerance 600℃, good creep resistance (high temperature yield strength ≥205MPa)
- Economical: Compared with high chromium alloys (such as 3Cr, 5Cr), the cost is reduced by about 20%-30%, suitable for budget-sensitive projects
- Corrosion resistance: Chromium elements form an oxide film that can resist corrosion in weak acidic media (such as sulfur-containing flue gas, industrial steam)
- Process reliability: 100% radiographic testing (RT) and ultrasonic testing (UT) of welds, with a strength of more than 95% of the parent material
Applications
- Electric power equipment: subcritical boiler low-pressure steam pipeline, economizer manifold
- Petrochemical: low-temperature oil product pipeline, atmospheric pressure reactor auxiliary pipeline (temperature ≤300℃)
- Industrial machinery: hydraulic cylinder sleeve, lifting equipment guide (wall thickness ≤50mm, diameter ≤800mm)
