What is 90° Long Radius Elbow?
ASTM SA / A403 SA / A 774 WP-S 90° Long Radius Elbow is a common pipe fitting widely used in various fluid piping systems. Its primary function is to enable a 90-degree directional change in pipelines while ensuring smooth fluid flow.
A long radius elbow typically refers to an elbow with a bending radius equal to or greater than 1.5 times the pipe diameter. This design helps reduce fluid resistance during directional changes, thereby improving the efficiency of the piping system.

Manufacturing Process
The mainstream production method for custom stainless steel 90° elbows is hot push forming:
Cutting:
Stainless steel pipe blanks are cut to calculated lengths.
Heating:
The pipe blank is locally heated to plastic forming temperature (above 1000°C) using an medium-frequency induction heating furnace.
Pushing:
On a hydraulic push machine, the heated blank is formed into a 90° shape using specially designed bending dies and mandrels. This process ensures uniform wall thickness and excellent streamline flow.
Heat Treatment:
For stainless steel, solution annealing is critical. The elbow is reheated to 1050-1100°C and rapidly cooled to eliminate internal stress and restore corrosion resistance.
Post-Processing:
End beveling, dimensional inspection, surface treatment (e.g., pickling passivation, polishing), and final quality checks are performed.
