API 602,BS 5352,ASME B16.34/B16.11/B1.20.1/B16.25 /B16.5 forged steel gate valve is a valve whose closure member (gate) moves perpendicularly to the centerline of the flow passage. The gate's movement direction is perpendicular to the fluid flow, allowing the valve to be either fully open or fully closed but not suitable for flow regulation or throttling.

When closed, the gate forms a sealed space with the valve seat, blocking media flow; when open, the space between the gate and valve seat is fully opened, permitting free media passage.

The valve's opening and closing are achieved by rotating the stem, which raises or lowers the gate to control media flow.
