EN10025-3 Technical Specifications

Standard Overview
EN10025-3 is a part of the hot-rolled structural steel standard EN10025, which specifies the technical delivery conditions for normalized/normalized rolled weldable fine-grained structural steels. This standard was approved by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) on April 1, 2004, replacing EN10113-1:1993.

1. Scope
Applicable to normalized/normalized rolled weldable fine-grained structural steels, specifies the conditions that this type of steel should meet at the time of delivery, and is used for welded, bolted and riveted steel structures at ambient temperature.

2. Standard References
General standards: Contains dated or undated references from other publications, dated references, and all subsequent modifications or revisions are not applicable to this standard.
Dimension and tolerance standards: There are relevant provisions in specific clauses (such as 7.7.1).
Inspection standards: There are corresponding inspection standards.
3. Terms and definitions
Normalizing rolling: There is a clear definition of this process.
Fine grain steel: The definition of fine grain steel is given.
4. Classification and name
Classification
Main quality categories: There is a clear division of main quality categories.
Type and quality: There is a detailed classification description of the type and quality of steel.
Name
The name should be based on EN10025-1.
The composition of the name is specified, and the naming of the product must follow certain rules, such as the relevant symbol letters, yield strength description, impact energy quality composition name, special purpose letters and other elements, as well as the marking requirements when the product is delivered in a specific state (such as + N or + AR).

5. Requirements
Overview: General description of the requirements for this type of steel.
Chemical composition: There are strict regulations on the chemical composition of steel.
Mechanical properties
Overview: General description of the requirements for mechanical properties.
Impact characteristics: The requirements for impact absorption energy test in a specific low temperature environment are specified. For example, S275NL requires an impact absorption energy test in a low temperature environment of minus 50 degrees and the impact value is not less than 27J.
Steel products with improved vertical deformation characteristics of the product surface: There are corresponding requirements for steel with these characteristics.
Technical characteristics
Weldability: With the increase of product thickness and strength grade, it is necessary to consider the factors that cause cold cracks during welding, such as the diffusion of hydrogen in the weld metal, the brittle structure of the heat-affected zone, and the tensile stress concentration at the weld joint. At the same time, there are certain requirements for the weldability of steel.
Deformability: There are relevant regulations on the deformation performance of steel.
Suitability for hot-dip galvanized sheet: The suitability requirements for steel for hot-dip galvanizing process are specified.
Surface characteristics: Different types of steel products such as strip steel have different requirements for surface conditions. For example, if the strip steel is properly treated, the surface conditions should not weaken the application of the steel, etc.
