Introduction to Low-Temperature Carbon Steel A333 Gr 6 Welded Pipe
ASTM A333 cryogenic tubing exhibits good tensile strength and toughness, but poor corrosion resistance. Several surface treatments can improve the corrosion resistance of this alloy. Common surface treatments include galvanizing, painting, cold-applied coating (CRA) or bare metal paint, 3PE/3LPE paint, FBE paint, and welding wire. Although this alloy has good tensile strength, ASTM A333 Gr 6 cryogenic tubing, in addition to tensile and abrasion tests, must undergo non-thermal and non-corrosive electrical property tests as required by the specification.
