A53 Square Hollow Tube Production Process

(1) The raw materials include steel strips, welding wire, and flux. They must undergo strict physical and chemical inspections before being put into production.

(2) The head and tail of the steel strip are butt-welded using single or double-wire submerged arc welding, and automatic submerged arc welding is used for repair welding after forming into square tubes.

(3) Before forming, the steel strip undergoes leveling, trimming, planing, surface cleaning, conveying, and edge bending treatment.

(4) The pressure of the cylinders pressing down on both sides of the conveyor is controlled by an electrical contact pressure gauge to ensure the smooth conveying of the steel strip.

(5) External or internal control roller forming is adopted.

(6) A welding gap control device is used to ensure that the welding gap meets the welding requirements, and the pipe diameter, misalignment, and welding gap are strictly controlled.

(7) Both internal and external welding use American Lincoln welding machines for single or double-wire submerged arc welding, ensuring stable welding specifications.

(8) The welded seams are inspected by online continuous ultrasonic automatic injury detectors, ensuring a 100% coverage rate of non-destructive testing for spiral welded seams. If defects are detected, automatic alarms are triggered and marked, and production workers adjust the process parameters accordingly to eliminate defects in a timely manner.

(9) Air plasma cutting machines are used to cut the square tubes into individual pieces.

(10) After cutting into individual square tubes, the first three tubes of each batch undergo strict initial inspection procedures to check the mechanical properties of the weld seams, chemical composition, fusion status, surface quality of the square tubes, and undergo non-destructive testing to ensure that the pipe production process is qualified before officially entering production.

(11) Areas with continuous ultrasonic testing marks on the weld seam undergo manual ultrasonic and X-ray reexamination. If defects are confirmed, they are repaired and undergo non-destructive testing again until the defects are eliminated.

(12) The weld seams of the steel strip and the D-type joints intersecting with the spiral weld seams are all inspected by X-ray television or film.

(13) Each square tube undergoes a hydrostatic pressure test, with pressure applied radially. The test pressure and time are strictly controlled by the square tube hydraulic pressure microcomputer detection device. Test parameters are automatically printed and recorded.

(14) Mechanical processing of the tube ends ensures accurate control of end face perpendicularity, bevel angle, and fillet.
