API 5L Gr.B Straight Seam Welded Steel Pipes
Product Introduction
API 5L Grade B PSL1 is a basic grade in the API 5L standard established by the American Petroleum Institute (API). It is suitable for medium- and low-pressure applications transporting media such as natural gas, oil, and water. ASTM A106 Gr.B and ASTM A53 Gr.B are similar to API 5L Gr.B in chemical composition, mechanical properties, and applications.
API 5L: Standard for steel pipes used in pipeline transportation systems in the oil and gas industry; Grade B: Steel grade, indicating a minimum yield strength of 35,000 psi (or 241 MPa); PSL1: Product specification grade 1.

As a PSL1 level, its non-destructive testing requirements are relatively basic: All steel pipes undergo hydrostatic testing to verify the pipe's pressure-bearing capacity.
Non-destructive testing is performed on welds, but the methods and acceptance criteria are not as stringent as for PSL2.
Application
It is mainly used in low-pressure oil and gas gathering and transmission pipelines, urban gas distribution systems, water supply networks, and drinking water and fire-fighting water transmission pipelines. Due to its price advantage and sufficient strength, it is also frequently used as piling pipes,building steel structure supports, and scaffolding.
