A36 Carbon Steel Pipe for Structural Description

A36 Steel Pipe is a carbon structural steel used to manufacture welded and bolted metal structures for industrial and civil construction and bridge construction. ASTM A36 Steel Pipe is also used to manufacture products and parts for general construction and mechanical engineering purposes.

1. Chemical composition standard (ASTM A36)

The typical composition of A36 steel plate is:
Carbon (C) ≤ 0.26%
Manganese (Mn) 0.60%-1.20%
Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.04%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.05%
Its low-carbon design takes into account both weldability and plasticity. The manganese element improves strength while maintaining cold bending performance, which meets the strict requirements of ASTM A36 standard for building structural steel.

2. Mechanical performance indicators
Yield strength: ≥ 250 MPa
Tensile strength: 400-550 MPa
Elongation (gauge length 200mm): ≥ 20%
Experimental data show that A36 steel plate can still maintain good toughness in -30℃ low-temperature impact test, which is suitable for engineering environments with large temperature differences.

3. Quality control points

Raw material inspection: check the Mn/C ratio in the steel mill's warranty (should be > 2.5)
Ultrasonic flaw detection: detect internal defects according to ASTM A435 standard
Hardness sampling: Brinell hardness HB should be controlled in the range of 137-180
