A252 GR1 SSAW Spiral Welding Steel Pipes

A252 GR1 Spiral Welded Pipe is a welded steel pipe pile material under the ASTM A252/A252M standard, designed for scenarios such as building foundation work and bridge support, and is formed by the spiral welding process for both structural support and cost effectiveness. It is characterised by:

Product form: round or square steel pipe welded and moulded by spiral weld seam, large diameter pipe (OD range 219-3620mm) can be produced from narrow strip steel;
Uses: mainly used for permanent pile foundation structures, concrete pile shells, or as support for oil and gas transmission pipelines
Chemical composition and mechanical properties
Chemical composition:
Low carbon steel material, carbon content ≤ 0.05%, low carbon equivalent to optimise welding performance;
The main components are iron (residual), silicon, manganese and other elements, no special alloy added.
Mechanical properties:
Tensile strength ≥ 345 MPa, yield strength ≥ 205 MPa;
Elongation varies with wall thickness, for example:
Wall thickness ≥ 7.9mm ≥ 30%;
Wall thickness 2.8mm ≥ 20.25%.
Manufacturing process and product characteristics
Manufacturing process:
The steel strip is used to roll into a pipe billet at a helical angle, and moulded by high-frequency resistance welding (ERW) or submerged arc welding process;
High surface precision, suitable for deep processing and mass production.
Product Advantage:
Compared with LSAW pipes, spiral welded pipes are stronger and can produce large diameter pipes (e.g. OD up to 3,620mm) from narrow strip steel;
Lower cost than seamless steel pipes, suitable for low and medium load scenarios.
