BS1387 ERW Structural Steel Pipe
WT: 1mm-30mm
Technique: ERW
BS1387 ERW Structural Pipe Description
BS 1387 structural pipes are British standard threaded and socketed steel pipes for conveying fluids. They come in two coating types: black (uncoated) or galvanized (zinc-coated). The pipe end treatments include plain ends, internal threaded ends, or external threaded ends, suitable for various connection methods.

BS1387 ERW Steel Pipe

BS 1387 Welded Steel Pipe Testing:
1. Tensile Performance Test
Measurement of Tensile Strength: Tensile strength is the stress corresponding to the maximum force applied.
Measurement of Upper Yield Strength: This can be determined from the force-extension curve or peak force display. It is defined as the stress corresponding to the maximum force before the first drop in force. Upper yield strength is calculated by dividing this force by the original cross-sectional area of the specimen.
Measurement of Elongation After Fracture: The fractured parts of the specimen should be carefully fitted together to align the axis. Special measures should be taken to ensure proper contact of the fractured parts before measuring the gauge length after fracture. The elongation after fracture is then calculated using the appropriate formula.
2. Flattening Performance Test
The specimen is placed between the two plates of the testing machine, ensuring that the edges of the specimen are allowed to be rounded or chamfered using a file or other methods. The width of the plates should exceed the width of the flattened specimen. The plates are moved in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pipe, with a movement rate not exceeding 25mm/min. After the test, the specimen is observed without using a magnifying glass. If no visible cracks are found, the specimen is deemed qualified. Minor cracking at the specimen edges should not be a basis for rejection.
