Three-layer polyethylene anti-corrosion coating (3LPE) refers to a corrosion-resistant layer with a structure consisting of a bottom layer of fusion-bonded epoxy powder (FBE), an intermediate layer of adhesive, and an outer layer of polyethylene (PE). The three-layer structure of polyethylene anti-corrosion coating combines the excellent anti-corrosion properties of epoxy powder with the excellent mechanical protection properties of polyethylene, significantly improving the anti-corrosion performance and service life of the coating.

Measures for controlling mechanical damage and repair failure of 3LPE anti-corrosion coatings:

1. Strict control of construction quality. For example, during backfilling of the trench, layered backfilling should be strictly adopted to avoid damage from hard objects; during pipeline repair, strict adherence to corresponding specifications should be ensured to prevent phenomena such as inadequate bevel angle or insufficient overlap width.

2. Increase cathodic protection current density. By controlling the potential with a potentiostat, the output voltage and current of the potentiostat are increased, thereby increasing the cathodic protection current density of the pipeline.

3. Increase sacrificial anodes. When raising the output of the potentiostat cannot meet the requirements, consideration can be given to adding sacrificial anodes to under-protected pipelines to achieve the desired protective effect.
