A249 standard is austenitic steel for nominal wall thickness welded and heavy cold-finished welded pipes in various grades suitable for use as boiler, superheater, heat exchanger or condenser tubes. A249 stainless steel welded pipe is normally available in pipe sizes and thicknesses ranging from 1/8 inch [3.2 mm] inside diameter to 12 inches [304.8 mm] outside diameter and from 0.015 to 0.320 inch [0.4 to 8.1 mm] wall thickness, inclusive. Other sizes may be available, provided they conform to all other requirements of this specification.
