Chemical Composition: Adhere to the specific limits for carbon, chromium, nickel, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur to achieve desired mechanical properties .
Heat Treatment: Proper annealing, hardening, and tempering processes are essential. Full annealing isn't practical for this grade; process annealing at 620-660°C followed by air cooling is recommended. Hardening is done at 980-1065°C, followed by quenching in oil or air .
Hardness: The material should be hardened to achieve a specified hardness level, typically around 40HRC .
Tensile Strength: Ensure the tensile strength is within the specified range, typically 850-1000 MPa for "Condition T" .
Yield Strength: The 0.2% yield strength should meet the minimum requirement, usually around 635 MPa .
Elongation: Maintain adequate ductility, with elongation typically not less than 10-15% .
Welding: Due to the risk of cracking, welding should be done with preheating and post-weld heat treatment .
Machining: Machine in the annealed condition for best results; machining becomes more difficult in hardened conditions .
