Chemical Composition: The chemical composition of 304 stainless steel is defined by ASTM A240/A240M with a carbon content not exceeding 0.07%, chromium content between 17.5-19.5%, and nickel content between 8.0-10.5%. Adhering to these percentages is essential for achieving the desired mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of 304 stainless steel are important properties to monitor. For an annealed bar, the tensile strength is 585 MPa (85 ksi), the yield strength is 235 MPa (34 ksi), and the elongation is 60%. These properties ensure the pipe's strength and ductility.
