1. Basic definitions and standards
Material type: STPG410 is a carbon structural steel defined in the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and is mainly used for the manufacture of seamless steel pipes and shaped bars.
Execution Standard:
Seamless steel pipe: Conforms to JIS G3454;
Profiled bars: JIS G3461.
2. Chemical composition
Content of major elements (mass per cent)
Carbon (C): ≤0.30%;
Silicon (Si): ≤0.35%;
Manganese (Mn): 0.30% to 1.00%;
Sulfur (S), phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.040%.
Characteristics: Manganese is added on the basis of medium carbon steel to improve strength and toughness, suitable for medium load conditions.
3. Approximate control material
Chinese standard (GB): similar to 25Mn (25 manganese steel), which belongs to low alloy structural steel, with similar performance but slightly higher manganese content.
4. Typical application scenarios
Industrial field:
Manufacture of seamless steel pipes for conveying water, steam, oil and other media;
Shaped bars and connecting parts for chemical and energy pipelines.
Summary: STPG410 is a cost-effective carbon structural steel, both strength and processability, widely used in low and medium pressure piping systems.
