This standard covers a wide range of tube types, including round, square and rectangular tubes, for different construction and industrial applications.

According to the standard, grade designation symbols for steel grades include:

S: Structural steel pipe
H: Steel pipe
Non-alloyed steel:
JR: Impact test value at ambient conditions
J0: Impact test value at 0°C
J2/K2: Impact test value at -20°C
Fine grain steels:
L: Impact test value at -50°C
N: Normalised or Normalised Rolled
M: Thermomechanically cured
