What is EN10219 S460NH equivalent to?
1. Basic Benchmarking Analysis
Material Type and Standard
S460NH is a cold-formed welded structural hollow profile under the European standard EN10219. It is a low-alloy high-strength steel (yield strength ≥ 460MPa), and its performance is optimized by normalizing/normalizing rolling process.
There is no direct corresponding grade in China, but you can refer to similar materials in GB/T 6728 (cold-formed hollow steel for structure) or GB/T 1591 (low-alloy high-strength structural steel).
Performance Benchmarking
Mechanical properties: The yield strength of S460NH is ≥ 460MPa, and the tensile strength is 550~720MPa, which is close to the performance of domestic Q460C/Q460D (yield strength ≥ 460MPa), but the impact toughness difference should be noted.
Low temperature toughness: S460NH requires -20℃ impact energy ≥34J, which is more compatible with Q460D (-20℃ impact energy ≥34J).
2. Comparison of chemical composition and process Chemical composition:
S460NH contains microalloying elements such as niobium (Nb), vanadium (V), titanium (Ti), and carbon equivalent ≤0.53;
The domestic Q460D (C≤0.18%, Mn≤1.80%) has similar composition, but needs to be refined by normalizing or controlled rolling process.
Process requirements:
S460NH needs to meet the normalizing rolling process, while the domestic Q460D usually adopts the controlled rolling and cooling (TMCP) process, and there are differences in the uniformity of the two organizations.
3. Practical application suggestions
Conventional scenarios: If there is no strict low temperature requirement, Q460C (-20℃ impact energy ≥ 27J) can be used as a substitute;
Low temperature environment: Q460D (-20℃ impact energy ≥ 34J) is preferred, and the material must be normalized;
Special needs: When welding or complex stress is involved, the alloy element ratio needs to be adjusted in accordance with specific standards (such as GB/T 6728).
4. Summary
EN10219 S460NH has no completely equivalent brand in China, but Q460D is the closest in mechanical properties and low temperature toughness, and process adjustments (such as normalizing) are required to meet actual needs.
