2. Performance characteristics
Thickness tensile performance
The so-called thickness tensile performance of steel plates mostly refers to the Z-direction performance of steel plates. A709MGr36 steel plates can be customized with three levels of Z-direction performance: Z15/Z25/Z35.
3. Yield strength
There are four yield strength levels among the nine models available in ASTM A709/A709M. The yield strength of A709Gr36 is 36ksi (250MPa)

5. Mechanical Properties
Tensile Properties
For A709Gr36 grades with cross sections less than 1 in² (645 mm²) and bars (except flat bars) less than 1/2 in. (12.5 mm) in thickness or diameter, tensile testing is not required by the manufacturer.
Impact Testing
Non-fracture critical, T tensile members: Tensile structural products ordered for use as non-fracture critical components shall be impact tested in accordance with A673/A673M.
Fracture critical, F tensile members: Tensile structural products ordered for use as fracture critical components shall be impact tested in accordance with A673/A673M.
No suffix: Orders without the suffix T or F do not require impact testing and should only be used as non-tensile members or auxiliary members. Grades without suffixes have atmospheric corrosion resistance levels typical of carbon or alloy steels 4 without copper.
6. Application fields
A709Gr36 steel plates are widely used in engineering structures, such as building steel structures, construction machinery, mining machinery, trucks, bridges, pressure vessels, etc., especially for construction and engineering machinery parts that require good weldability and toughness.
