What is astm a671 gr cc60 specification

The material for ASTM A671 CC60 steel pipes manufactured using double-submerged arc welding is carbon steel plate. Its chemical composition and mechanical properties must conform to the specifications in the ASTM standards. The material of grade CC60 is equivalent to that of ASTM A516 grade 60, boasting excellent mechanical properties including tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. These properties ensure that the pipes can withstand internal pressure and possess good ductility.

Specifically, the minimum yield strength of grade CC60 steel pipes is approximately 414 MPa (based on the conversion from 60 ksi, where 1 ksi = 6.895 MPa). This makes them suitable for operating conditions involving certain levels of pressure and temperature. Additionally, these steel pipes exhibit good corrosion resistance and low-temperature toughness, making them applicable for use in low-temperature environments or under atmospheric conditions.

Applications

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Transportation

Under ultra-low temperature conditions of -162°C, the low-temperature toughness of grade CL22 can effectively prevent pipeline brittle fracture.

Chemical Equipment

Suitable for high-pressure vessels such as urea synthesis towers and methanol reactors, its resistance to H₂S stress corrosion is superior to that of ordinary carbon steel pipes.

Power Industry

Used in boiler feedwater pipelines and steam transportation systems, with an operating pressure of up to 16 MPa. Compared with seamless pipes, it offers advantages in terms of weld strength coefficient (0.9) and cost-effectiveness.
