What is ASTM A671 GR CC60 material?
ASTM A671 GR CC60 is a grade of electrofusion welded (EFW) steel pipe manufactured according to the ASTM A671 standard, specifically designed for use in low-temperature and high-pressure environments.
Manufacturing Process
Electrofusion Welding (EFW): CC60 steel pipes are manufactured using an electrofusion welding process, where an electric current melts the edges of the steel plate to form a weld. This process ensures the quality and strength of the weld, resulting in uniform properties throughout the pipe.
Heat Treatment: To further optimize the mechanical properties and low-temperature toughness of CC60, the steel pipes may require heat treatment during manufacturing, such as normalizing and tempering.

ASTM A671 GR CC60 steel pipes are primarily used for fluid transport and storage in cryogenic environments.
Typical applications include:
- Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Transportation: Due to its cryogenic toughness, it is suitable for LNG pipelines operating at extremely low temperatures.
- Polar Oil and Gas Extraction: Meets the high requirements for pipeline materials in cold regions.
- Industrial Gas Storage and Transportation: Used for pipelines transporting cryogenic industrial gases such as liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen.
