What is ASTM A517 / A517M

1. **ASTM A747 / A747M:** This standard specifies requirements for steel castings, both austenitic and austenitic-ferritic (duplex), strengthened by precipitation hardening. These castings are designed for corrosion-resistant service and high strength. Common grades include CB-7Cu-1 (17-4PH type) and CD-4MCu.

2. **ASTM C636:** This practice covers the installation of suspended ceiling systems composed of mineral fiber or mineral fiber reinforced synthetic fiber acoustical tile or lay-in panels. It details requirements for supporting members, hangers, perimeter treatment, alignment, levelness, and access panel installation to ensure proper performance.

3. **ASTM F1492:** This specification covers forged carbon and alloy steel fittings intended for use in pressure piping and pressure vessel systems. These fittings (such as elbows, tees, crosses, couplings, caps) are manufactured by hot forging and machining to dimensional standards like ASME B16.11 and are rated for high-pressure service.

4. **ASTM A517 / A517M:** This specification covers high-strength, quenched and tempered alloy steel plate intended primarily for use in welded pressure vessels and other critical applications requiring excellent notch toughness. It is known for its very high yield strength (minimum 690 MPa / 100 ksi) and is often referred to by its common trademarked name "T-1" steel.

5. **ASTM / A70A707 7M:** This specification covers forged carbon and alloy steel flanges intended for low-temperature service. These flanges, classified as Grades L1 through L8 based on chemical composition and strength, are designed to maintain adequate toughness at temperatures as low as -100°F (-73°C) and are made to dimensional standards like ASME B16.5.
