What is ASTM A500 structural pipe material

ASTM A500 structural pipe materials refer to carbon steel cold-formed round and special-shaped cross-section welded rectangular pipes and seamless rectangular pipes that meet the ASTM A500 standard. Including square, rectangular or special-shaped cross-section steel pipes, which can be used for welding and bolted structures of bridges and buildings.
Material grade: ASTM A500 structural pipe materials are divided into four grades: A, B, C, and D. Among them, grade A steel pipes need to be heat treated.

 

ASTM A500 Standard Scope
1. This specification covers cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel round, square, rectangular, or special shape structural tubing for welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges and buildings, and for general structural purposes.
2. This tubing is produced in both welded and seamless sizes with a periphery of 88 in. [2235 mm] or less, and a specified wall thickness of 0.875 in. [22 mm] or less.Grade D requires heat treatment.

3. The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to beregarded separately as standard.Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets.The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. The inch-pound units shall apply unless the "M" designation of this specification is specified in the order.
