What is A36 steel pipe?
I. Basic Definition
A36 steel pipe is a carbon structural steel product based on the American ASTM A36/A36M standard, mainly used for structural support and connecting parts in industrial and civil buildings, bridges, machinery manufacturing and other fields. Its name 'A36' on behalf of the material's yield strength of 36 thousand pounds / square inch (about 250 MPa), belongs to the category of low carbon steel, both high strength and good processing performance.
Chemical Composition
Core Composition: Carbon (C) content ≤ 0.25%, manganese (Mn) 0.8% ~ 1.2%, silicon (Si) ≤ 0.40%, sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) content is strictly controlled at ≤ 0.05% or less, in order to reduce the impact of impurities on performance.
Alloy features: low sulfur and phosphorus design to enhance weldability and toughness, trace copper (Cu ≥ 0.20%) can enhance corrosion resistance (copper-containing steel type).
III. Mechanical Properties
Strength and ductility: yield strength ≥ 250 MPa, tensile strength 400~550 MPa, elongation after break ≥ 20%, suitable for withstanding dynamic loads and impact environment.
Advantage of toughness: good low-temperature impact toughness, can be adapted to the environment below -20℃.
Fourth, the production process and form
Manufacturing process: through continuous casting, hot rolling or controlled rolling and cooling (TMCP) moulding, to ensure organisational uniformity and dimensional accuracy.
Product form: including rectangular tube, round tube, etc. The surface can be galvanised or painted to enhance corrosion resistance.

Construction engineering: used for building frames, bridge supports and other load-bearing structures.

Corresponding grades: A36 steel pipe and the national standard Q235 steel performance is close, but the control of sulfur and phosphorus is more stringent, the overall performance is better.
