Symbols and Markings
This section provides instructions for symbols and markings used in steels, such as batch numbers, markings and representation methods of steels.
2. Classification of Steels
Structural steels are divided into different grades according to chemical composition and mechanical properties, including S235, S275, S355 and S420, each with different requirements and characteristics.
3. Chemical Composition
For each grade of structural steel, the requirements for its chemical composition are specified, including carbon content, sulfur content, phosphorus content and other alloying elements.
4. Mechanical Properties
The mechanical properties requirements of different grades of structural steels are specified, including tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and impact toughness.
5. Technical delivery conditions
For each grade of structural steel, the technical delivery conditions are specified, including the state of the material, the supply length and the blank size.
6. Surface quality
The specification defines different surface quality grades, including B, C and D, each with different surface defect tolerances1.
7. Other requirements
In addition to the general requirements, EN10025-1 also puts forward the following requirements for hot-rolled structural steel:
Mechanical properties
General requirements: Meet the mechanical properties corresponding to different grades.
Impact properties: The steel must have a certain impact toughness.
Improved deformation properties perpendicular to the surface: Meet the relevant deformation properties requirements.
Process properties
Weldability: The steel should have good weldability.
Formability: Suitable for cold forming, hot forming and other processing methods.
Hot dip galvanizing applicability: Can be hot dip galvanized.
Processing properties: Convenient for various mechanical processing.
Surface properties: The surface of the steel should meet certain characteristic requirements.
Internal quality: Ensure that the internal quality of the steel is uniform and free of defects.
Size and shape quality tolerance: Meet the tolerance requirements mentioned above.
