Steel pipe pile installation method

Vertical Pipe Method

During vertical pipe construction, a steel pipe is first embedded in the soil and then gradually pushed downwards by pushing it up. During the steel pipe pile construction process, care must be taken to control the pipe's lowering speed and depth to ensure the pile's stability and safety.

Casing Method

The casing method is a commonly used method for constructing steel pipe piles. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Drill a hole in the soil with a diameter slightly larger than the steel pipe.

2. Insert the steel pipe into the hole.

3. Pour cement grout around the steel pipe. The voids inside the pipe will be filled with free-flowing sand or cement grout, forming a stable pile body.

During the casing method, care must be taken to control the casing depth and pipe diameter to ensure the pile's stability and load-bearing capacity.

Excavation Method

The excavation method is a relatively traditional method for constructing steel pipe piles. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Excavate a hole in the soil with a diameter slightly larger than the steel pipe.

2. Insert the steel pipe into the hole.

3. Pour cement slurry around the steel pipe to form a fixed pile body.

The advantages of the hole-dig method are simplicity and low cost, but quality and stability can be difficult to guarantee.

Pipe-pulling Method

The pipe-pulling method is a relatively new method for constructing steel pipe piles. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Drill a hole in the soil with a diameter slightly larger than the steel pipe.

2. Insert the steel pipe into the hole.

3. Use compressed air to gradually remove the steel pipe.

4. After the steel pipe is removed, pour cement slurry or other filler material into the hole to form a fixed pile body.

The pipe-pulling method has the advantages of fast construction speed and high quality, but it requires special equipment and tools, and the construction cost is relatively high.

Combined Construction Methods

In actual projects, it is often necessary to select or combine the above construction methods according to specific circumstances. The following is an example of a comprehensive construction method:

1. Construction Preparation: This includes inspection of design drawings and materials, site preparation, pile location confirmation, and positioning of the drilling rig.

2. Drilling: Start the drilling rig and begin drilling. During the drilling process, check the ground surface frequently to determine the drilling frequency. If piles are densely packed, spaced piles can be used to minimize impact on adjacent piles.

3. Steel Pipe Pile Driving: Professional technicians weld the steel pipes and transport them to the site. Manually align the pipes and slowly lower them into the hole. During the driving process, ensure that the pile shaft does not bend or deform. If any obstruction is encountered, promptly identify the cause and correct it. Never force the pile down.

4. Pile Driving and Splicing: To prevent damage to the pile head during hammering, a special pile cap should be placed on top of the pile head before driving, and shock-absorbing blocks should be placed in areas directly exposed to hammering. During driving, the verticality of the pile frame guide rod and the pile should be corrected, and the hammer, pile cap, and pile should be aligned on the same longitudinal axis. When the steel pipe pile is sunk to a certain depth and verified as good, continue hammering until the pile top is a certain height above the ground. Stop hammering and begin connecting the piles. When connecting the piles, ensure the connection is secure and reliable, meeting design requirements. Pile connections are typically made by welding or bolting.

5. Grouting and Pile Top Treatment: Prepare cement slurry according to the mix ratio and use a grouting pipe to ensure grouting reaches the bottom of the hole. During the grouting process, ensure stable grouting pressure and sufficient grouting volume. Install a pile top pad on top of each steel pipe pile. The pad should have a large surface area to provide good load-bearing capacity. Check that the pile top is aligned with the elevation and make adjustments if necessary. Also, check the flatness and verticality of the pile top and make any necessary adjustments.
