ASTM A672 C70 Carbon Steel EFW Pipe description
ASME SA672/A672M-2019 standard applies to steel pipes used under medium temperature and high pressure conditions, made from pressure vessel quality steel plates of several chemical compositions and strength grades, electrofused with filler metal. Heat treatment may or may not be required to obtain the desired performance or to meet the requirements of the application specification. Several supplementary requirements are provided for selection when additional tests or inspections are necessary. Generally applicable to steel pipes with an outer diameter not less than 16 inches (405 mm) and a wall thickness not greater than 3 inches (75 mm). Other sizes of steel pipes conforming to all other requirements of this standard may also be supplied.

Applications
ASTM A672 C70 belongs to the category of medium-high temperature pressure-bearing welded steel pipes, mainly used in piping systems under high pressure/high temperature conditions. Typical scenarios include:
Power Industry
Thermal Power Plants: Main steam pipelines (temperature ≤480℃)
Boiler feedwater systems: High-pressure pipelines (design pressure ≥10MPa)
Steam Turbines: High-temperature reheat steam pipelines
Petrochemical Industry
Oil Refineries: Hydrogenation reactor inlet and outlet pipelines (resistant to H₂ corrosion environment)
Ethylene Plants: Cracking gas transmission pipelines (temperature 300-450℃)
Ammonia Synthesis: High-pressure synthesis loop pipelines
Oil and Gas Transportation
Offshore Platforms: High-pressure water injection pipelines (resistant to seawater corrosion + pressure bearing)
LNG Plants: Low-temperature to high-temperature transition pipelines (-46℃~200℃ operating conditions)
Industrial Boiler Systems
Industrial Boilers: High-temperature header connection pipes
Waste Heat Recovery Devices: High-pressure heat exchange pipelines
