ASTM A252 Mild Pipe Steel Grade 3 Description
A252 GR3 pipe piles are Grade 3 steel pipe piles manufactured according to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) A252 standard. They have a wide range of applications in engineering construction and are typically in the form of circular steel pipes. Various wall thicknesses and diameters are available. The pipe ends are generally flat and perpendicular to the pipe axis, facilitating butt jointing and connection during construction. Minor scratches and oxidation discoloration may occur on the surface due to the manufacturing process, but these will not affect their performance.

astm a252 grade 3 modified
ASTM A252 Grade 3 modified is a high-strength steel pipe pile with a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa) and a minimum tensile strength of 66 ksi (455 MPa). The "modified" aspect signifies a higher minimum yield strength than standard ASTM A252 Grade 3 (310 MPa or 45,000 psi), making it suitable for projects with particularly heavy loads, such as those used in foundations for large buildings or bridges.
astm a252 grade 3 welding process
Raw Material Preparation:
Select standard-compliant carbon steel as raw material. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of this steel must meet the requirements of Grade 3 in the A252 standard.
Inspect the raw materials to ensure they are free of defects and impurities and meet production requirements.
Steel Plate Cutting and Pre-treatment:
Cut the steel into suitable production plate sizes.
Pre-treat the steel plates, such as removing rust and leveling, to ensure surface cleanliness and flatness.
Forming and Welding:
Use a forming machine to roll the steel plates into round tube shapes.
Use appropriate welding methods (such as submerged arc welding, high-frequency welding, etc.) to firmly weld the joints of the round tubes, forming a continuous steel pipe.
Inspect the welds to ensure they are free of cracks, incomplete fusion, and other defects.
Cutting to Length and End Processing:
Cut the welded steel pipes to the specified lengths according to order requirements.
Process the pipe ends, such as flattening and chamfering, to facilitate subsequent construction and connection. Heat Treatment (if required):
Heat treatment, such as normalizing and tempering, is applied to the steel pipes according to standard requirements or customer order needs to improve their mechanical and processing properties.
Inspection and Testing:
Comprehensive inspection and testing are performed on the produced pipe piles, including visual inspection, dimensional measurement, mechanical property testing (such as tensile testing and bending testing), and non-destructive testing (such as ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing).
Ensuring the quality of the pipe piles meets the requirements of Grade 3 in ASTM A252 standard.
Corrosion Protection (if required):
Corrosion protection treatment, such as painting and galvanizing, is applied to the pipe piles according to the requirements of the service environment to improve their corrosion resistance.
Packaging and Transportation:
Inspected and qualified pipe piles are packaged to prevent damage during transportation and storage.
Transportation is arranged to deliver the pipe piles to the customer's designated location.
