A252 GR2 material possesses a balance between high strength and good ductility and toughness, with a typical yield strength ≥345MPa, tensile strength 470-630MPa, and elongation ≥20%. It exhibits excellent low-temperature impact toughness (impact energy ≥34J at -20℃), making it suitable for use in extremely cold regions. The material undergoes a controlled rolling and cooling process (TMCP), resulting in refined internal grains and excellent weldability and fatigue resistance.

Mechanical Requirement

Elogation Of ASTM A252 Pipes

Applications
1. Building Structures: Steel frames for high-rise buildings, seismic bracing components
2. Bridge Engineering: Box girders for long-span bridges, load-bearing components for bridge piers
3. Construction Machinery: Crane booms, wear-resistant parts for mining equipment
4. Special Vehicles: Heavy-duty truck chassis, container frames
Production Process:
1. Raw Material Inspection: The chemical composition and mechanical properties of the steel strip must meet the requirements of ASTM A252.
2. Forming and Welding: The steel strip is formed by a spiral rolling machine and welded using submerged arc welding (SAW) or high-frequency welding (HFW). The weld seams must be inspected by X-ray flaw detection.
3. Dimensional Calibration: Control the tolerances of outer diameter and wall thickness (e.g., outer diameter deviation ±0.5%, wall thickness deviation ±10%).
4. Performance Testing: Conduct hydrostatic tests (pressure ≥ 1.5 times the design pressure), tensile tests, bending tests, etc.
- Corrosion Protection Treatment:
The surface rust removal grade must reach Sa2.5 (near-white). The coating thickness is selected according to environmental requirements (e.g., 3PE coating thickness ≥ 2.5mm).
