1. API 5L X52 is the oil pipe steel in the API standard of the American Petroleum Institute. It belongs to the pipeline steel material. "X52" represents the minimum yield strength value specified for the steel pipe, in ksi (1ksi = 6.895MPa), that is, its minimum yield strength is about 52ksi (about 358.54MPa).
2. Chemical composition
The carbon content of this material must meet ≤ 0.28, but its complete chemical composition also involves other elements, usually low-carbon or ultra-low-carbon micro-alloyed steel. The diameter of the steel pipe is Ф406.4 - Ф1422.4mm (16 - 56in), the length of the steel pipe is 3 - 12.5m, the wall thickness of medium carbon alloy structural steel of X70 and above steel grade can reach 6.4 - 26.4mm (0.252 - 1.04in), and the product must comply with SO3183, API Spec5LI, API Spec2B, GB/T9711 and other standards.
4. Main features
Excellent mechanical properties: It has excellent mechanical properties and can withstand extreme working environments and high pressure conditions. When the bending and torsional strengths are the same, it is lighter than solid steel such as round steel and is an economical cross-section steel.
Good corrosion resistance: It can resist the erosion of environmental media to a certain extent and is suitable for use under complex working conditions. 5. Application areas
Oil and gas transportation: This is its main application area. It can be used to make oil and natural gas pipelines. Generally, thick-walled straight seam welded pipes are made of medium and thick plates. Plate coils are used to produce straight seam resistance welded pipes or submerged arc spiral welded pipes. They are also suitable for the transportation of land and marine oil and gas, coal slurry, ore slurry and other media.
Structural pipes: They can be used in offshore platforms, power stations, chemical industries and urban building structures.
