Studded Tube
Stud tubes are tubing shaped like studs. They are characterized by simple manufacturing, convenient maintenance, and good heat dissipation. Currently, they are mainly used in industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, and refrigeration equipment. Their primary application is in tower-type equipment handling high-viscosity media, such as trays, tunnels, and bottom plates, where they are interchangeable with tray materials.

Applications of Studed Steel Tubes
Studed tubes are mainly used in boilers and furnaces. It is mostly used in corrosive environments. In the petrochemical industry, denser crude oil passes through spiked tubes. Heat is generated from the outside of the tube. At the other end of the tube, we get the liquid product, which is subsequently sent for processing.
Studded tubes are also used in water tube boilers. They help to heat water. Studded tubes are oval in shape and are welded to the boiler.
The use of threaded pipes reduces the use of bare pipes as the heat transfer surface of one threaded pipe can replace the heat transfer surface of 4 to 10 bare pipes.
Threaded tubes can be used where harsh fuels are used that can cause damage to the environment. To prevent corrosion, the outer surface of the studded pipe can be coated or treated with a protective layer.
Studed tubes are also used in soda ash boilers and fluidised bed reactors as they minimise erosion.
They are also used in steel mills, air coolers, power plants, heat exchangers, etc.
