Product Introduction

1. Elfin Technology

'Elfin' finned tubes are widely used in hydro generator coolers and have been selected by hydroelectric power stations such as Snowy Hydro, Hydro Tasmania and Origin Energy to provide long-lasting, reliable cooling for their vital generators.

2. Bullet fins

Similar in appearance to Elfin finned tubes, bullet finned tubes are a common and cost-effective method of attaching strip fins to tubes. This is achieved by manually placing the fins on the tube and pushing or pulling the 'bullet' through the tube (the 'bullet') to expand the tube wall towards the fin, locking it in place.

3. 'L' finned tubes

A common type of finned tube is the 'L' fin. Taking its name from the letter it forms in a cross-sectional view, the 'L' fin relies on maximum surface contact between the fin and tube, which is ensured by tension forming the fin strips that spiral around the base tube.
4. "LL" Finned Tubes

"LL" fins are manufactured in the same manner as "L" finned tubes, with overlapping feet to completely wrap around the base tube, giving them excellent corrosion resistance. Maximum operating temperatures are about the same as "L" fins. This type of fin is typically made of aluminum and copper. The overlapping "L" fin design has interlocking fins that are wrapped around each other to prevent movement and separation. The fins protect the entire tube, and the name is well suited for applications where corrosion is a concern.
5. "KL" Finned Tubes

"KL" finned tubes are also known as knurled finned tubes. The fins are wrapped around the tube with the feet rolled into the outer surface of the pre-knurled tube and secured at both ends. The fins are made from a metal strip that is machined into a precisely controlled L-shaped foot, similar to an L-fin, and then rolled into a cone to give it a curl. The tube surface is knurled with a rotary tool, and then the foot of the fin is rolled into the base tube, providing a tight fit to optimize heat transfer.
6. "G" Embedded Fin Tubes

The main design feature of embedded fin tubes is that the fins are inserted and welded into spiral grooves cut into the tube. G fins can be used at higher temperatures and are very durable. Embedded fins are best used in high thermal cycles or high temperatures and the fin sides require regular cleaning. The main limitation of this type of fin is the need for a wall thickness of at least 1.65 mm to accommodate the grooves. However, "G" fins can withstand temperatures up to 400°C and can be combined with carbon steel fins for better conductivity.
7. Extruded Fin Tubes

This fin type is made of bimetallic tubes, consisting of an aluminum outer tube and an inner tube of nearly any material. The fins are formed from rolled material on the outside of the outer tube to produce an integral fin with excellent heat transfer properties and long life. Extruded fins provide excellent corrosion protection for the base tube and virtually exclude any exposure to external fluids.

8. Wire Fin Tube

Wire ring tube is a high efficiency tube consisting of a series of elongated wire rings that enhance the surface of the tube, spirally wrapped around the tube wall and held in place with tie wires at the base of the rings. The rings and tie wires are then soft soldered to the tube wall to create a metallic bond between the wire rings and the tube.
