The corrosion resistance of X46 Welded Round Steel can be tested in several ways:

Immersion Testing:
This is a laboratory test method that calculates the corrosion rate by calculating the weight loss after exposing a specimen to a corrosive medium for a period of time. This test can provide a corrosion rate, usually expressed as weight loss per year (such as mil/year in English or mm/year in Metric).

Electrochemical Testing:
Includes Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR) test, which is a quick and simple electrochemical corrosion test that measures the change in current over a small range near the corrosion potential to determine the polarization resistance and thus evaluate the corrosion rate.

Potentiodynamic Polarization Tests:
Used to evaluate the passivation behavior of active-passive metals such as stainless steel, by scanning the potential over a wide potential range to obtain parameters such as critical current density, passive potential and passive current density.

Cyclic Polarization Method:
Used to determine the tendency of active-passive metals to undergo localized crevice corrosion or pitting corrosion, which is achieved by reversing the potential scan direction in the over-passivated area.

Electrochemical Potentiodynamic Reactivation (EPR):
It is a simple and fast test method used to predict the tendency of stainless steel to sensitization or intergranular corrosion.
