Manufacturing Process

X46 welded round steel straight seam pipes are typically produced through a process known as Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) or Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). In the ERW method, a continuous strip of steel is formed into a circular shape, and the edges are joined by passing an electric current through a contact wheel, causing localized heating and fusion of the steel. The SAW process, on the other hand, involves welding the edges of a rolled plate using a submerged arc, protected by a layer of flux, to create a continuous seam.

Both methods ensure a strong, continuous weld that meets or exceeds the stringent requirements of the X46 grade. Additionally, post-weld heat treatments may be applied to further refine the microstructure and enhance the mechanical properties of the pipe.
