L290 LSAW Pipe Description
L290 large-diameter straight seam welded pipe is a large-diameter (usually outer diameter ≥ 323.9mm) steel pipe made by straight seam welding process with L290 low-alloy steel as the base material. The "L290" in its name means that the steel has a minimum yield strength of 290MPa, which belongs to medium-high strength pipeline steel, and has good weldability and formability.
Production process
Forming technology: L290 grade steel plate or strip is formed by rolling to form a straight seam pipe billet, and high-frequency welding (ERW) or submerged arc welding (SAW) technology is used to complete the weld forming.
Welding characteristics:
High-frequency welding uses electromagnetic induction and skin effect, does not require solder, has a narrow weld heat-affected zone, and has stable mechanical properties;
Submerged arc welding is suitable for steel pipes with larger wall thickness (such as 8mm or more), and high-strength welds are formed by molten welding wire and flux.
Performance advantages
High strength: Yield strength reaches 290~495MPa, which can withstand the needs of high-pressure fluid transportation; Corrosion resistance: Some products have enhanced resistance to soil and water corrosion through 3PE anti-corrosion layer (epoxy powder + adhesive + polyethylene); Economical: The straight seam welding process has high production efficiency and is suitable for mass production of large-diameter pipes with low cost.
