Surface Condition of S235JRH Hollow Structural Steel Sections
1. General Surface Condition:
Hollow structural steel sections should have a smooth surface consistent with the manufacturer's methods. Surface imperfections such as impacts, dents, or shallow grooves caused by the manufacturing process are acceptable, provided that the thickness remains within tolerance. Surface defects can be removed by the manufacturer through grinding, but the repaired product thickness must not fall below the minimum thickness tolerance.
2. Cutting Ends:
The ends of the steel pipes should be cut perpendicular to the axis.
3. Weld Repair for Non-Alloy and Fine-Grain Hollow Sections:
Weld repair is permissible for non-alloy and fine-grain hollow structural steel products. However, the state and procedures of the repair must be mutually agreed upon by the manufacturer and the customer.
Customers may specify that no weld repair is to be performed on the product at the time of ordering.
Weld repair of the pipe body for fine-grain hollow steel products is not allowed unless agreed upon by the customer.
4. Weld Repair Certification:
Weld repair must be carried out according to EN 287-1 operating certification. The welding procedures must follow the standards outlined in EN 288-1 to EN 288-3 and be covered by the manufacturer's quality assurance system.
5. Compliance with European Standards:
Repairs to hollow sections should adhere to all the requirements of this European standard.
