Its continuous spiral weld structure makes stress distribution more uniform and allows for the production of large-diameter pipes with outlet diameters far exceeding those of straight seam welded pipes (typically reaching Φ406mm and above). Although higher-grade X-series pipeline steel is now widely used in high-pressure trunk lines, Q235B SSAW steel pipes, with their mature technology and significant cost-effectiveness, still play an irreplaceable role in oilfield internal gathering and transportation, low-pressure transportation, structural casing, and water injection pipelines.

The welding process for Q235B spiral welded oil and gas transmission steel pipes requires strict verification of beveling accuracy, base material surface cleanliness, and welding material composition before welding. During welding, key parameters such as current, voltage, and speed of submerged arc welding are controlled and recorded in real time through an online monitoring system. After welding, 100% non-destructive testing must be performed. Ultrasonic testing is typically used to scan the entire circumference of continuous defects inside the weld, supplemented by X-ray testing to re-verify and locate the nature of the defects. Simultaneously, the mechanical properties of the weld (such as tensile, bending, and impact toughness) are sampled and tested.
