S355 welded pipe Description
S355 welded pipe is a square, rectangular or circular cross-section steel pipe made of S355 low-alloy high-strength structural steel defined in European standard (EN10025) by welding process (such as high-frequency resistance welding straight seam welding) ERW or made. In its name, "S" stands for structural steel, "355" means the minimum yield strength is 355MPa (when the thickness is ≤16mm), and the suffixes such as "J", "M" and "L" indicate different impact toughness grades, which are suitable for low temperature environments from room temperature to -50°C. This material is designed by microalloying (such as adding Nb and Ti elements) to optimize the carbon equivalent (usually ≤0.42%) to ensure the balance of high strength and good processing performance.

- High strength and excellent toughness: yield strength ≥355MPa, tensile strength 430-550MPa, elongation ≥18%, can withstand heavy loads; excellent low-temperature impact toughness (such as S355ML remains stable at -50°C), adaptable to severe cold or dynamic load environments.
- Excellent welding and processing performance: Low carbon design (carbon content ≤ 0.24%) and low carbon equivalent (such as S355MC ≤ 0.25%) significantly reduce the risk of welding cracks, and support conventional welding without complex preheating; surface finish Ra ≤ 12.5μm, convenient for cold bending, stamping and other forming processes.
- Corrosion resistance and economy: Containing copper, chromium and other elements to improve weather resistance, salt spray test ≥ 600 hours after hot-dip galvanizing; high strength allows weight reduction of 15%-20%, reducing material consumption and overall engineering costs.
Applications
- Architecture and Infrastructure: Used in high-rise building load-bearing frames, large-span plant support structures and bridge main beams, providing high bending and wind resistance.
- Engineering Machinery and Vehicles: Manufacture crane booms, excavator chassis and special vehicles (tank truck frames, trailer longitudinal beams), increasing fatigue life by more than 3 times.
- New Energy and Special Fields: Applied to wind power tower internal supports, photovoltaic bracket main beams and offshore platform pipelines, adapting to corrosive environments and long-term loads.
