S275JR is a low alloy high strength structural steel, similar to the steel grades listed in China's GB/T 700 and GB/T 1591 standards. It is used for engineering and structural purposes as both carbon structural steel and low alloy structural steel. Typically, it is delivered without heat treatment. Principle of S275JR resistance welded pipe welding:
After the workpieces are combined, pressure is applied through the electrode, and the workpieces are heated by the resistance heat generated by the current flowing through the welding area, so that the welding part reaches a local melting or high-temperature plastic state, and the connection is completed through the combined action of heat and mechanical force.
The core of resistance welding is through the Joule heat effect, which mainly has three major elements: current, time, and resistance. Among them, current and time are determined by external welding equipment; resistance is divided into the body resistance of the welding material and the contact resistance of the contact area. The body resistance of the material is determined by the material itself, and the contact resistance depends on the surface state of the material, electrode pressure, electrode material, etc.
S275JR welded pipe welding quality inspection:
Two common methods are non-destructive testing or destructive testing;
Non-destructive testing mostly chooses ultrasonic testing (using ultrasound to obtain a two-dimensional image of the welding interface is a non-destructive and efficient testing method) or X-ray testing (using radiation to penetrate materials or test pieces to check their internal defects or analyze their crystal structures based on diffraction characteristics);
Destructive testing mostly chooses tensile testing or metallographic analysis. The tensile force test can be used to check the material connection strength. Metallographic analysis is mostly used to analyze the cross-sectional morphology of the weld, or to check whether there are defects such as pores and cracks at the weld core position. In industrial production, welding quality is often confirmed by appearance, such as checking whether there are external cracks on the sample after welding, whether the oxidation discoloration is serious, and whether there is welding spatter.
