A501 ERW Steel Pipe

A501 Electric-Resistance-Welded Pipe is a U.S. standard for black and hot-dip galvanized hot-formed welded carbon steel pipes, which can be square, round, rectangular, or specially shaped. These pipes are used for welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges, buildings, and general structural purposes. Square and rectangular pipes are available in flat sizes ranging from 1 to 10 inches (25.4 to 254 mm) with wall thicknesses from 0.095 to 1.000 inches (2.41 to 25.40 mm), depending on size. Round pipes are available in sizes from NPS 1 to NPS 24 (see Note 1) with nominal (average) wall thicknesses from 0.109 to 1.000 inches (2.77 to 25.40 mm), depending on size. Specially shaped pipes and other sizes are permitted, provided they meet all other requirements of this specification.
