P355NL2 Steel Welded Pipe
P355NL2
Fine grained structural steel for pressure vessels. P355NL2 steel is characterised by good weldability and high resistance to brittle cracking. These types are used above all for manufacturing vessels for pressurised gas (LPG, butane and propane tanks), pressure vessels, parts for steam boilers, pressure piping, compressors, etc. Their most widespread use is in application environments lower than -20º.
P355NL2 steel is supplied in the normalised condition. The normalising temperature is 900 - 950 ºC, and it must be left in the furnace after temperature equalising for approximately 1 minute per millimetre of thickness of the plate. As a result, it offers good cold-forming and hot-forming properties without negatively affecting the material properties.
The fine grained structural steel in this series can be perfectly welded, both manually and using automatic equipment, by means of all known welding processes.

| Chemical composition | |||||||||||||||||
| Welded Steel Tube P355NL2, EN-10217-3 is a low carbon, fine grain steel tube that is used in various applications, such as in the construction of pressure vessels, boilers, and pipelines. The chemical composition of Welded Steel Tube P355NL2, EN-10217-3 is as follows: | |||||||||||||||||
| Steel grade | C | Si max | Mn | P max | S max | Cr max | Mo | Ni max | Al totb | Cu max | N max | Nb max | Ti max | V max | Nb+Ti+V max | ||
| Steel name | Steel number | ||||||||||||||||
| P355NL2 | 1.1106 | 0.18 | 0.5 | 0.9 to 1.7 | 0,025 | 0.015 | 0,30c | 0,08c | 0.50 | 0.02 | 0,30cd | 0.02 | 0.05 | 0.03 | 0.10 | 0.12 | |
| The fine-grained structure of P355NL2 steel makes it suitable for low-temperature applications. The low carbon content of the steel improves its weldability, while the presence of alloying elements, such as manganese, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, enhances its mechanical properties, such as strength and toughness. The chemical composition of Welded Steel Tube P355NL2, EN-10217-3 is strictly controlled to ensure that the steel meets the required specifications for its intended application. The composition may vary slightly depending on the manufacturing process, but the overall composition is within the specified range. The chemical composition of the steel is typically provided on the mill test certificate, which is issued by the manufacturer and accompanies the product during transportation and storage. |

| Mechanical Properties | |||||||||||||||||
| The mechanical properties of Welded Steel Tube P355NL2, EN-10217-3 are important considerations in determining its suitability for different applications. The following are the typical mechanical properties of this steel tube: | |||||||||||||||||
| Steel name: P355NL2 | Steel number: 1.1106 | Tensile strength: 490-630 N/mm² | |||||||||||||||
| Yield strength: 355 N/mm² | |||||||||||||||||
| Elongation: 22% | |||||||||||||||||
| Impact strength: -50°C | |||||||||||||||||
| The above mechanical properties are tested in accordance with the standard EN 10002-1. The high tensile and yield strength of the steel tube make it suitable for use in high-pressure applications, such as in the construction of pressure vessels and boilers. The elongation property indicates the ductility of the steel tube, which is important in determining its ability to withstand deformation without breaking. The elongation value of 22% indicates that the steel tube is highly ductile and can be formed into different shapes without cracking. The impact strength property of -50°C indicates that the steel tube can withstand low-temperature environments without losing its mechanical properties. This makes it suitable for use in applications where the steel tube is exposed to low temperatures, such as in the construction of pipelines for the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The mechanical properties of Welded Steel Tube P355NL2, EN-10217-3 are critical in ensuring that the steel tube meets the required performance criteria for its intended application. The mechanical properties are typically provided on the mill test certificate, which is issued by the manufacturer and accompanies the product during transportation and storage. It is important to ensure that the mechanical properties of the steel tube are within the specified range to ensure that it can perform as expected. |
