A358 310S SS Welded Pipe Description
A358 310S welded pipe is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel pipe. Due to its high nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) content, it offers superior oxidation and corrosion resistance compared to 304 stainless steel pipes. The chemical composition of A358 310S austenitic stainless steel pipes is characterized by the addition of molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, and titanium to a chromium-nickel base. Its face-centered cubic structure endows it with high strength and creep resistance at elevated temperatures, allowing it to operate continuously under high temperatures. This makes it particularly suitable for high-temperature applications such as the manufacture of electric furnace tubes and similar environments.

What are the differences between 310S Steel and 310 Steel?
Differences lie in their chemical compositions:
1. Stainless steel 310 chemical composition: C (≤0.25%), Si (≤1.50%), Mn (≤2.00%), P (≤0.045%), S (≤0.03%), Cr (24.0%-26.0%), Ni (19.0%-22.0%).
2. Stainless steel 310S chemical composition: C (≤0.08%), Si (≤1.500%), Mn (≤2.00%), P (≤0.035%), S (≤0.030%), Ni (≤19.00%-22.00%), Cr (≤24.00%-26.00%).
Differences lie in their meanings:
1. Stainless steel 310: Stainless steel 310 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. Due to the higher percentages of chromium and nickel, 310S has much better creep strength and can operate continuously at high temperatures, exhibiting excellent high-temperature resistance.
2. Stainless steel 310S: Stainless steel 310S is a high-alloy stainless steel belonging to the 25Cr-20Ni series, with excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance. It is suitable for making various furnace components, with a maximum temperature of 1200℃ and a continuous operating temperature of 1150℃.
Their characteristics also differ:
1. Stainless steel 310: It exhibits high-temperature oxidation resistance. Chromium elements locally oxidize to provide oxidation resistance. During the local oxidation of chromium elements, a very stable chromium oxide (Cr2O3) can be formed, which forms a continuous layer of chromium oxide on the metal surface, preventing the formation of other oxides and providing protection to the metal.
2. Stainless steel 310S: It improves the typically brittle nature of carbon tool steels, thereby extending the life of tools. Vacuum degassed refined steel ensures stable quality. It has good hardenability, oil quenching hardens with less cracking and deformation, and exhibits good toughness and wear resistance, resulting in durable tools.
