ASTM A139 Grade B EFW Tubes

ASTM A139 welded pipe is an electric fusion (arc) welded spiral steel pipe specified by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). It is a steel pipe with a nominal diameter of NPS 8 to 142 (about 219mm to 3620mm) and a wall thickness of 1.0 inch (25.4mm). The latest version of the ASTM A139 standard is ASTM A139/A139M-22, which replaces the previous versions of 2004 and 2015.

Scope of application

Used to transport liquids, gases or steam, such as tap water, oil, natural gas, steam, etc.

Covers straight seam or spiral seam welded steel pipes, the steel grade is a special grade for steel pipe factories, and the mechanical properties are different from standard steel plates.

Main parameters
Pipe diameter: NPS 8 to 142 (refer to ANSI B36.10 for specific dimensions).
Wall thickness: Nominal (average) wall thickness ≤1.0 inch (25.4mm).
Steel grade: divided into five grades, which must meet specific mechanical properties such as tensile strength and yield strength.

Manufacturing process
The electric melting (arc) welding process is adopted, and the welds must pass strict inspections such as X-ray flaw detection and ultrasonic testing.
The production process includes steps such as strip milling, forming, welding, and water pressure testing to ensure the quality of the welds.
