During the manufacturing process of ASTM A358 316 Steel Tube, it is crucial to control several key process parameters to ensure its properties:

Welding: Full penetration double-welded or single-welded butt joints should be used with fusion welding processes. The choice between double or single welding and the use of filler metal in all passes depend on the class of the pipe, with Class 1 requiring double welding and complete radiography, and Class 3 requiring single welding with complete radiography .

Filler Metals: The chemical composition of the welding filler metal should conform to the requirements of the applicable AWS specification for the corresponding grade shown in Table 1, or it should be more highly alloyed than the base metal when needed for corrosion resistance or other properties .

Heat Treatment: The material should be heated to a minimum temperature, typically 1900°F (1040°C), followed by quenching in water or rapid cooling. Specific heat treatment temperatures may vary for different grades .

Chemical Composition: The steel plate material should conform to the requirements of one of the grades of Specification A 240/A 240M .

Non-Destructive Testing: Radiography is required for certain classes of pipes to ensure the weld quality .

Visual Examination: The weld surface should be examined visually for conformance to requirements, and any weld reinforcement should be reasonably smooth and free from irregularities.
