The welded and processed spiral steel pipe feeds the strip into the welded pipe unit. After rolling through several rolls, the strip is gradually coiled into a round pipe billet with an open gap. The reduction of the compression rolls is adjusted to control the weld gap to 1~3mm and to make the ends of the welded joint flush.
1. If the gap is too large, the proximity effect will be reduced, the eddy current heat will be insufficient, and the crystal joint of the weld will have a poor joint, resulting in non-fusion or cracking.
2. If the gap is too small, the proximity effect will be increased and the weld heat will be excessive, which will lead to weld burns; otherwise, a deep crater will be formed in the weld after extrusion and rolling, which will affect the surface quality of the weld.
After the two edges of the billet are heated to the welding temperature, under the extrusion rolls, common metal grains are formed in order to penetrate and crystallize each other, and finally a strong weld is formed. If the squeezing force of the spiral steel pipe is too small, the number of co-crystals formed becomes smaller, the strength of the weld metal decreases, and cracks will occur when the force is applied. If the squeeze force is too large, the molten metal will be extruded from the weld. Not only reduces the welding strength, but also produces a large number of internal and external burrs, and even causes defects such as weld overlap.
